About

What
United Way of Greater Milwaukee is an independently-governed 501(c)3 nonprofit organization connected to a network of more than 1,400 local United Ways through United Way Worldwide. We have our own board of directors and focus our work on local solutions for local problems.

United Way of Greater Milwaukee’s strategic approach to community problem solving concentrates on collaboration and results. We achieve results through 160-plus programs at over 80 partner agencies.

United Way advances the common good as Greater Milwaukee’s largest community-based investor in Education, Income and Health – the building blocks for a good quality of life. After all, everyone deserves opportunities for a quality education that leads to a stable job, family-sustaining income through all of life’s stages, good health and a safe home.

Last year alone we raised over $46.5 million for community problem solving. Since our start in 1909, we have invested over $1 billion to solve our community’s most serious problems.

How
Advancing the common good is about communitywide change to help all of us. We are all interdependent and when we are stronger as individuals, together we build a stronger community.

In order to achieve real, lasting communitywide change, United Way recruits the people and organizations from across the community who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done. Together, we are taking action that makes a real difference today, while creating long-term solutions and measurable results.

More than 70,000 individuals and 1,400 organizations are already on board. But we need you, too. We invite you to be part of the change. You can give, you can advocate and you can volunteer. That’s what it means to Live United.

Why
When we Live United, we can tackle the toughest problems and make every neighborhood throughout Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha Counties a place where people can realize their dreams.
