Our Campaign

2008 Community Campaign
While donations are accepted throughout the year, our intensive Community Campaign is run from approximately Labor Day through the end of November. A goal is set, and donations from hundreds of corporate-run employee campaigns and thousands of individuals are counted to reach our total. We run special events during this time and focus our media efforts to tell the story of United Way's impact on Greater Milwaukee and the individual lives improved.

To reach our goal, area corporations increase giving through sponsorship, direct gifts and challenge matches designed to increase individual participation. These efforts are lead by our campaign co-chairs who give extraordinary time and attention to ensure success.

Campaign Leadership

Our annual Community Campaign is lead by our dedicated volunteer co-chairs and cabinet who meet throughout the year to guide and manage our yearly campaign.

Challenge Grants

The generous support of challenge grant sponsors multiplies the impact of your investment by matching your contribution up to a specified amount.

Sponsorships

We depend on our generous corporate sponsors for direct donations, challenge grants, event sponsorships and in-kind gifts to offset costs, allowing us to provide additional resources to the community.

Impact Card

The Impact Card is provided to donors who give $150 or more in a single year. The card provides valuable discounts on dining, entertainment and services.

Days of Caring

Days of Caring is two weeks of volunteer projects that take place throughout Greater Milwaukee. Local nonprofit organizations request help, and United Way mobilizes teams of volunteers from our partner companies to pitch in.

Women's Initiative

The Women's Initiative was founded in 2002 to mobilize a powerful leadership network of women to strengthen our community through a focused investment of talent, compassion and philanthropy.

Emerging Leaders

The Emerging Leader program strives to develop a relationship with a diverse group of individuals under the age of 45 to broaden United Way's base of support.

Loaned Executives

Each year, businesses dedicated to making a difference in our community select valued employees to serve as full-time loaned executives (LEs) who serve as the foundation of United Way’s annual workplace campaign. Others may also become Loaned Executives.

Leadership Level Giving

Leadership giving recognizes individuals who make gifts at the Leadership ($1,200+) or Tocqueville Society ($10,000+) level allowing givers to make a greater impact on the lives of people in the
metro Milwaukee area.

Leadership Society - consists of donors who contribute $1,200 or more to the annual United Way of Greater Milwaukee Community Campaign.
Tocqueville Society - is named in honor of 19th century French political philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville. Members contribute $10,000 or more, with at least $6,000 directed to United Way’s Community Impact Fund.
Women’s Initiative - provides recognition and connection opportunities for women. Membership includes women who contribute at least $1,200 individually or are partners in a joint gift of $2,400 or more.
Emerging Leader - educates and involves a new generation of United Way contributors (recommended for donors age 45 and under). Donors who contribute $1,200 or more can opt into the program.
