Thank you for your interest in learning more about United Way’s Emerging Leader Program. Our group connects the community’s next generation of leaders, inspires change and helps more than 420,000 people throughout Greater Milwaukee. It takes the whole community working together to bring about lasting change. And the time is now.
- According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than one in four Milwaukee residents lives in poverty. Two-thirds of those work, but do not earn a family-sustaining income. Two adults working full-time at minimum wage barely take home $20,000, while the federal poverty line for a family of four is $21,200.
- At the same time, a basic family budget covering costs for food, shelter, transportation, child care, medical care, and other necessities is around $39,000.
- Many families are forced to make difficult decisions, often choosing between paying the rent and putting food on the table. That’s why we must come together to help each other.
With your help, United Way provides more people access to the tools they need to live a better life. People of all ages and races, representing different faiths and varying political viewpoints must unite. You may be one person, but you can make a difference.
Please consider giving to United Way. You can count on United Way to help you make the greatest difference in the most lives by only investing in programs that work through agencies that manage their money responsibly. United Way of Greater Milwaukee is awarded year after year for its efficiency by watchdog organizations.
• Four Star Rating: The highest rating for the fourth consecutive year from Charity Navigator.

We must turn concern into action. Help us tackle our community’s most critical problems by committing yourself to change. This year it’s more important than ever. Please give generously.
