Eight New Members Elected to Nonprofits’ Board

(Milwaukee, WI - July 27, 2004) Curt S. Culver, president and CEO of MGIC Investment Corporation, was elected to chair United Way’s Board of Directors at the organization’s annual meeting on July 15th. Culver has more than 28 years of mortgage insurance business experience. He actively serves the community as a board member of many organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Froedtert Health System, Wisconsin Energy Corporation, Greater Milwaukee Committee, and Metro Milwaukee Association of Commerce.

Other officers elected were:

  • Vice-Chair: Joseph A. Mantoan, managing partner, Accenture
  • Treasurer: Gordon J. Weber, president, Corporate Banking, Associated Banc-Corp
  • Secretary: Michael R. MacDonald, chairman and CEO, Carson Pirie Scott & Company

Eight new members were also elected to serve on United Way’s Board of Directors. The following individuals were nominated for three-year terms:

  • Michael Darrow, vice president, Russ Darrow Group
  • Nannette H. Hegerty, chief of police, City of Milwaukee Police Department
  • Rebecca A. Kapustay, president and CEO, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wisconsin
  • Gale E. Klappa, chairman, president and CEO, We Energies
  • Don W. Layden, Jr., president, NuEdge Systems
  • Gregory S. Marcus, senior vice president, Corporate Development, The Marcus Corporation
  • Andrew E. Randall, executive vice president and president, U.S. Bank Wisconsin
  • Mark B. Strachota, vice president and general manager, WTMJ-TV, Journal Broadcast Group, Inc.

The following individual was nominated for a one-year term:

  • Tom Hamilton – retired, Northwestern Mutual
