Change won't happen without you. Communities and individuals play an important role in the education of our youth. United Way of Greater Milwaukee is recruiting 3,000 readers, tutors and mentors over the next three years.
The great part about this volunteer effort is that it offers many different opportunities with a range of commitment levels.
Volunteer as a Reader to read one-on-one or in small groups for one hour at least four times per year.
Volunteer as a Tutor to instruct a child one-on-one or in small groups once weekly for at least three months.
Volunteer as a mentor to provide support and guidance to a child weekly for at least one year.
Next Door Foundation's Read With Me Program helps young children ages 2 to 5 build comprehension and pre-reading skills.
Interfaith's RSVP Tutor program is designed to improve the academic performance of MPS students. A variety of volunteer roles are available.
Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches to create positive relationships that have a lasting effect on youth.
